DES MOINES, Iowa - Claiming its 11th-straight victory, the
43rd-ranked Drake men's tennis team garnered a 6-1 decision over Saint Louis on
Friday (March 2) at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center.
The Bulldogs swept the doubles
competition with the tandem of juniors Anis Ghorbel (Sfax, Tunisia) and James McKie (Edinburgh, Scotland) securing the tally with an 8-2 triumph versus
Drew Feder and Vuk Poledica at the No. 1 position.
Sophomore Robin Goodman (Cambridge, England) was first off the court in
singles, downing Yehia El Sallaly, 6-1, 6-0 at the No. 4 slot. Goodman has now won his last 15 singles
matches and is 11-0 on the dual campaign.
Freshman Alen Salibasic (Tuzla, Bosnia & Herzegovina) pushed Drake's
advantage to 3-0 on the strength of a 6-0, 6-2 win against Poledica on court
No. 3.
Collecting his second deciding
point of the match at No. 2 was McKie, who dispatched Bobby Kidera, 6-0, 6-1.
The Bulldogs also received
victories at the Nos. 1 and 5 slots courtesy of triumphs by 82nd-ranked Ghorbel
and freshman Ben Mullis
(Leicestershire, England).
Drake travels to Milwaukee, Wis.,
for a 1:00 p.m. tilt at Marquette on Sunday (March 4).
