DES MOINES, Iowa - The Drake Bulldogs swept the Bradley Braves on Saturday afternoon at Ron Buel Field in Des Moines. Drake blanked Bradley, 3-0 in game one and won 3-2, in game two. The Bulldogs improved its overall record to 12-14, 5-0 MVC and the Braves fell to 11-16, 1-4 MVC on the season.

Drake sophomore Jordan Gronewold (Carlisle, Iowa) tossed a complete game shutout with 11 strikeouts in game one as the right-hander held the Braves to just two hits and allowed just one walk. Gronewold was 2-3 with an RBI triple in the fourth inning and one run scored and improved her record to 9-10.

The Bulldogs got on the scoreboard in the third inning as Macie Silliman (Winterset, Iowa) scored on a wild pitch. Drake added two runs in the fourth inning, one off of Gronewold's three bagger and Liz Buck (Overland Park, Kan.) followed with a single to plate Gronewold.

Hayley Nybo (Minnetonka, Minn.) and Lindsay Vande Wall (Prairie City, Iowa) each added two hits for the Bulldogs.

Gronewold came up big again for the Bulldogs in game two as she drove home the go-ahead run in the bottom of the sixth with a single. Torrey Craddock (Tucson, Ariz.) put the Bulldogs ahead 1-0 in the first inning with her third home run of the season. Jamie Duffek (Arlington Heights, Ill.) added the Bulldogs other run in the fifth inning with an RBI double.

Bradley scored two runs in the third inning off Gronewold to take a 2-1 lead.

Freshman Rebekah Schmidt (Cottage Grove, Minn.) pitched four innings in relief of Gronewold to earn the win and she improved to 3-4 this season on the mound.

The two teams will conclude the series with a noon game on Sunday, March 25 at Ron Buel Field.
