FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Senior Kirsten Lake (Parker, Colo.) won the unseeded 800-meters, while
junior Marissa Smith set a personal
best in the 100-meter hurdles to lead the Drake women's track and field squad at the Arkansas Invitational on Saturday, March
31.
Lake
won the 800-meter unseeded crown clocking in at 2:12.28, a personal best.
Smith,
after finishing her indoor campaign setting back-to-back personal records in
the 60-meter hurdles, opened up her outdoor season in the 100 hurdles crossing
the line in 14.11 to claim fifth-place.
Smith
also was 23rd in the 200-meter dash in 24.21, while junior Whitney Westrum (Waukee, Iowa) finished in 24.23 to claim 24th.
Senior
Ari Curtis (Fort Collins, Colo.), in
her first 400-meter hurdles in a year, was ninth in the 400-hurdles in
1:01.34.
The
4x100-meter squad of sophomore Tiara Winston (Denton, Texas), Smith, Westrum and junior Sarah Yeager (Ottumwa, Iowa) were seventh in 46.93.
Drake
will travel west to partake in the Stanford Invitational on April 7.
