NORMAL, Ill. – Nearly every Drake University track & field student-athlete that competed Friday afternoon at the Illinois State Invitational recorded a personal best as the Bulldogs had 20 total individual bests on the day.
 
The women's team completed a full lineup of events Friday with the men's team following suit Saturday afternoon.
 
Busiwa Asinga led the way for the Bulldogs as she clocked a personal best of 58.07 in the 400-meter hurdles to win the event by a full second. Her finish ranks as the second-fastest in program history and is easily the fastest in the Missouri Valley Conference this season.
 
Yinka Mary Ajayi also won the women's 400 meters in 54.05, the fastest outdoor time of her career at Drake. She led a contingent of five Bulldogs who all set personal bests in the event with Briandrias Rhodes, Ellie Mendlik and Joann Nguyen all finishing in the top 10.
 
Drake also had all six competitors in the 1,500 notch personal bests.
 
In the field events, the Bulldogs had three top-five finishes in the throws with Chandler Haight's personal best of 140-6 (42.83m) in the discus leading the way. She also finished fifth in the shot put while Katelyn Williams was fifth in the hammer throw.
 
Friday's competition for the women's team was its last before the MVC Championship, May 15-17.
