OMAHA, Neb. - The Drake women's tennis team
pulled in a pair of accolades when the annual Missouri Valley Conference
postseason awards were announced on Thursday (April 26).
Junior Manca Krizman (Solkan,
Slovenia) and sophomore Klavdija Rebol (Kranj, Slovenia) were both tabbed to the MVC
All-Select squad.
Krizman pulled in All-Select
team honors for the third year in a row, after registering a 30-4 ledger
overall and a 5-2 mark in league play.
She is 22-2 on the dual campaign and earlier in the season maintained a
25-match winning streak that carried over from the fall season.
After being named to
the All-MVC first team as a freshman, Rebol corralled All-Select laurels after
going 21-7 overall in singles, including 5-2 in league action.
"I'm very proud
of all of our players for the accomplishments in the classroom and on the
courts," Drake head coach Paul Thomson commented. "They all
perform for and push each other.
It is nice that they were recognized by the other coaches and SID's, but
I think even the they would say everything they do is a team effort."
The second-seeded
Bulldogs (21-6) open play at the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference
Championship on Friday (April 27) in Omaha, Neb., against seventh-seeded Northern
Iowa in a 1:00 p.m. match.
