Men's Tennis Completes Run At ITA All-American Championship

TULSA, Okla. - A three-set setback derailed Drake men's tennis junior Alen Salibasic's (Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina) bid to move into the third round of the qualifying singles draw at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-American Championship on Tuesday (Oct. 1).

Salibasic waged a back-and-forth battle versus George Goldhoff from Texas, the No. 8 player nationally on the ITA Freshman/Newcomer rankings, before ultimately falling.  Goldhoff took the first set, 7-5, before Salibasic stormed back to win the second, 6-4.  In the deciding frame, Goldhoff claimed the set and the match, 7-5.

In consolation singles play, senior Robin Goodman (Cambridge, England) was dealt a 6-3, 4-6, 2-6 setback against Jordan Angus from Mississippi State.

In doubles, junior Matt Frost (Cambridge, England) and Goodman dropped an 8-6 decision versus Nate Lammons and Alex Sanders of Southern Methodist.

In the other half of the draw, juniors Ben Mullis (Leicestershire, England) and Salibasic were bested, 8-4, by Virginia Tech's Hunter Koontz and Joao Monteiro.

Up next, Drake returns to Tulsa, Okla., for the ITA Central Regional (Oct. 18-20).
