Isom-Brummer, who finished third in the long jump with a jump of 17-2.0 was the Bulldogs' top competitor on the afternoon.

On the track, a group of Bulldogs competed in the 5,000 meters as junior Erin Poss (Antioch, Ill.) let the pack with a ninth place finish and a time of 18:01.17. Close behind in 15th was freshman Cassie Aerts (David City, Neb.) at 18:29.89 and sophomore Mariel Fulton (Louisville, Colo.) in 22nd at 19:06.23. Rounding out the pack was freshman Juli Smith (Sidney, Neb.) in 27th at 19:24.68.

"I thought today went pretty well," Drake distance coach Dan Hostager said. "We had some good races under some not so great conditions, I'm excited for tomorrow."

The first day of competition at the Jim Duncan Invitational saw the majority of the distance events and men's field events. Tomorrow, the spotlight will focus on the remainder of the women's team as they compete on their home track for the first time this season.

The first women's collegiate events on Saturday are the javelin at 9:30 a.m. and 4x100-meter relay at 10 a.m. High school events begin at 8:30 a.m. with the girls' long jump.
