LAWRENCE, Kan. – Isaac Twombly (Baldwin, Kan.), a senior on the Drake University track and field team, won the men's hammer throw Thursday at the Kansas Relays.
Twombly's throw of 194-06, recorded on his first throw of the day, bested Southern Illinois' Bradley Sauer by three inches to win. The throw was his fourth-best this season and third win of the year, having previously won the Razorback Invite (198-7) and Ashford Invite (198-5).
Twombly's teammate, junior Andy Curtis (Manchester, Iowa) was 11th in the event with a toss of 171-5.
Fellow throwers Kevin Harp (Iowa City, Iowa) and David Silkman (Lenexa, Kan.) will compete tomorrow afternoon at the Kansas Relays in the javelin.
