CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - Drake senior Anis Ghorbel (Sfax, Tunisia) dropped a 6-3, 4-6, 3-6 decision versus 11th-ranked Sebastian Fanselow of Pepperdine at the NCAA Men's Tennis Individual Championship on Wednesday (May 22) at the Khan Outdoor Tennis Complex/Atkins Tennis Center.

Ghorbel, who is rated No. 65 in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) rankings, became only the fifth Drake men's tennis player to participate in the NCAA Championship and first since Robert Novotny in 1997.

In a back-and-forth opening set, Ghorbel broke open a 2-2 tie capturing four of the next five games to register a 6-3 triumph.

In the second frame, the two opponents exchanged the opening five games with Fanselow maintaining a 3-2 lead.  In the sixth game, Ghorbel fell behind 40-15 before rallying to capture the point and even the affair at three.

Fanselow won two of the next three games to push his advantage to 5-4, before closing out the set, 6-4.

Tied at 1-1 in the final set, Ghorbel twice held advantage, but was unable to break serve on Fanselow and dropped the point to fall behind 2-1.

Both players held serve the next two games before Fanselow broke Ghorbel's serve to take a 4-2 lead.  Fanselow won two of the final three frames to secure a 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 triumph.
