TULSA, Okla. - Drake men's tennis senior Alen Salibasic (Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina) moved into the second round of the main singles draw at the Saint Francis Health Systems/Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-American Championships on Thursday (Oct. 2) on the strength of a 6-4, 3-6, 6-1 triumph past 23rd-ranked Ronnie Schneider of North Carolina.
The 37th-rated player in the nation, Salibasic advances to face a second-round showdown versus 101st-ranked Samir Iftikhar of New Mexico on Friday (Oct. 3) at 9:00 a.m.
In the other main draw singles match for the Bulldogs, junior Ben Lott (Newcastle, England) drew an opening-round match-up against fifth seeded and No. 6 nationally ranked Jared Hiltzik of Illinois. Lott fought valiantly in the showdown before dropping a 6-4, 7-5 decision to Hiltzik.
