NORMAL, Ill. – Drake women's tennis sophomore Maddie Johnson (Onalaska, Wis.) garnered recognition for her work in the classroom with her selection to the Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete first team on Thursday (April 24).
Johnson maintains a perfect 4.0 GPA in psychology and holds a 53-16 combined singles/doubles ledger this season, including a team-best 30-5 mark in singles.
Johnson recorded a perfect 6-0 record in singles during the MVC campaign en route to being named to the All-MVC first team for the second consecutive season. As a freshman she was selected as a first-team honoree at No. 4 singles.
She will each enter the MVC Championship this week with a 9-1 record in her last 10 singles contests.
The third-seeded Bulldogs (14-5) open play at the MVC Championship on Friday (April 25) in Normal, Ill., against sixth-seeded Evansville in a 2:00 p.m. match.
