Drake Men's Tennis Garners National And Regional Recognition

DES MOINES, Iowa - On the strength of its eighth NCAA Tournament appearance, the Drake men's tennis team finished 45th in the final Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) national poll.

Junior Alen Salibasic (Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina) was recognized for his efforts in singles during the spring campaign garnering a No. 57 singles ranking. Salibasic concluded his season with a 25-10 record in singles and culminated his year advancing to the second round of the NCAA Championship in May.

Senior Robin Goodman (Cambridge, England) and junior Ravi Patel (London, England) also participated in the NCAA Championship for the Bulldogs and capped their campaign with a No. 51 doubles ranking.

Also earning regional recognition in singles were Salibasic, Goodman, Patel and sophomore Ben Lott (Newcastle, England), who were tabbed fifth, 10th, 17th and 20th, respectively in the ITA Central Region.  In doubles, Goodman and Patel were ranked sixth in the region, while Goodman and Lott were rated 10th.

As a team, the Bulldogs finished fourth among 10 teams rated in the region.

Drake registered a 22-6 ledger this past season. The four-time defending Missouri Valley Conference regular season champions, Drake returns five starters for the upcoming 2014 fall campaign.
