DES MOINES, Iowa - In his collegiate tennis debut, Drake men's tennis freshman Bayo Philips (Houston, Texas) garnered a doubles triumph in first-day competition at the Roger Knapp Invitational on Friday (Sept. 19) at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center.
Pairing with Brooks Kendall from UMKC, Philips helped the duo earn an 8-5 triumph past Tommy Enwistle and Connor Shives from Gustavus Adolphus in the No. 3 doubles draw.
The duo dropped 8-2 and 8-6 decisions, respectively, to Creighton's Aaron Chalstrom and Harrison Lang and Carlos Manzanas and Austin Russell from Northern Illinois in its final two matches.
Competition is scheduled to conclude on Saturday (Sept. 20) with six singles flights. Action gets underway starting at 9:00 a.m.
