TULSA, Okla. - Drake men's tennis seniors
Matt Frost (Cambridge, England) and
Ben Mullis (Leicestershire, England) combined to register a trio of singles victories on the opening day of the pre-qualifying draw at the Saint Francis Health Systems/Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-American Championships on Saturday (Sept. 27).
Mullis opened competition for the Bulldogs registering a come-from-behind 0-6, 6-1, 6-2 triumph over Zvonimir Babic from Mississippi. He then advanced into Sunday's (Sept. 28) third round dispatching Oregon's Daniel Sardu, 7-5, 6-4.
After receiving a first-round bye, Frost moved into the third round besting Marquette's Vukasin Teofanovic, 6-4, 6-3.
Mullis and Frost will each need a pair of victories to move into Monday's (Sept. 29) qualifying draw. Mullis will square off against Frederik Gelbrich of San Diego State at 9:30 a.m., while Frost battles A.J. Catanzariti of Texas A&M at 10:00 a.m.
