NORMAL, Ill. - Freshman
Madison Glennie (Clearwater, Fla.) sparked the Drake women's golf team to a 10th-place showing after first-day action at the Redbird Invitational on Sunday (Sept. 7), posting a two-round total of 152 (73-79) to sit tied for 13th entering the tournament's final round on Monday (Sept. 8).
As a team, the Bulldogs carded rounds of 318 and 316 for a 36-hole scorecard of 634.
“I'm really proud and excited for our freshmen, Madison (Glennie) and Brooke (Miller) both had solid rounds and played very steady for it being their first college tournament and 36-hole day,” Drake head coach Leanne Smith commented. “We had some big holes that kept us from moving up on the leader board the last round, but I'm optimistic for our round tomorrow.”
Freshman Brooke Miller (Pomona, Calif.) was solid in her collegiate debut for the Bulldogs, registering rounds of 82 and 78 en route to carding a 36-hole score of 160, a mark that finds her tied for 53rd.
Shooting identical two-round totals of 161 to tie for 56th was senior Danielle Brooks (Red Wing, Minn.) and sophomore Sarah Browning (Midhurst, Ontario).
Junior Katie Clausen (Hinton, Iowa) rounded out the Bulldogs' efforts with a 36-hole score of 171 (88-83).
