TAMPA, Fla. – After suffering a tough loss on Friday, No. 25 Drake University men's tennis team bounced back to sweep No. 73 VCU, 4-0, on Saturday (March 14) on the second day of the USF Spring Break Tournament.
Wins from Alen Salibasic (Tuzla, Bosnia & Herzegovina) and Ben Mullis (Leicestershire, England) at No. 2 and Matt Frost (Cambridge, England) and Ravi Patel (London, England) at No. 3 secured the doubles point for the Bulldogs.
Drake continued to roll in the singles as Calum MacGeoch (Edinburgh, Scotland) was the first one off the court at No. 4, winning 6-0, 6-2. Patel dominated Antoio Batlle, 6-0, 6-3, at No. 3, while Bayo Philips (Houston, Texas) completed the sweep with a 6-2, 6-4 victory at No. 6. The Bulldogs and Rams had No. 1 doubles and Nos. 1, 2, and 5 singles go unfinished.
Drake will wrap up its weekend against North Florida on Sunday (March 15) at noon at the USF Varsity Tennis Courts.
