DES MOINES, Iowa – The Drake University women's tennis team was awarded the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic Team Award on Thursday, while Summer Brills, Tess Herder, Adrienne Jensen, and Maddie Johnson were recipients of the ITA Scholar-Athlete Award.
The recognition is bestowed on squads maintaining a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale) for the 2014-15 academic year. Drake registered a 3.31 team GPA for the 2014-15 academic year.
Johnson boasted a perfect 4.0 GPA in psychology, while freshmen Jensen, Herder, Brills maintained 3.9, 3.88, 3.64 GPA's in business, elementary education and journalism, respectively.
In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must meet the following criteria: 1.) be a varsity letter winner, 2.) have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and 3.) have been enrolled at their present school for at least 2 semesters (including freshman through senior year).
