Clausen and Glennie Named WGCA All-American Scholars

DES MOINES, Iowa - Garnering recognition for their efforts in the classroom, Drake junior women's golfer Katie Clausen (Hinton, Iowa) and freshman Madison Glennie (Clearwater, Fla.) were named to the Women's Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar Team. 

Clausen received WGCA honor for the third consecutive year after maintaining a 3.92 grade-point average in business, while Glennie earned the award for her 4.0 GPA in English.

Clausen finished the 2014-15 season with an 85.6 average over 28 rounds, including a career-low 75 in the opening round of the MVC Championship.

Glennie posted a team-best 79.8 average for 28 rounds this past season, including 15 rounds of 79 or better. She capped off her rookie campaign shooting a 74 in the first round of MVC Championship. Glennie was the Bulldogs top finisher in seven tournaments and fired a career-low 69 in the final round of the FIU/Pat Bradley Invitational (Nov. 4) and in the second round of the Coyote Classic (Sept. 29).

The WGCA All-American Scholar Golf Teams recognize outstanding academic and athletic achievements in women's college golf across Division I, II and III. A total of 758 women's collegiate golfers were honored. The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics with student-athletes needing to maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50.
