GRAND HAVEN, Mich. – The Drake University rowing team travels to the 2016 Lubbers Cup for its first official race of the spring season. The two-day regatta will be held April 9-10 on Spring Lake and features a strong field of collegiate programs led by the host, Grand Valley State.
Teams will race on a 2,000-meter buoyed course on Spring Lake with a round-robin schedule in the morning and afternoon on Saturday before a single session Sunday morning.
"Lubbers affords us lots of racing opportunities because its spread out throughout the day and not rushed," said Drake head coach
Charlie DiSilvestro. "Its a very well-run regatta that always features tough competition. We are looking forward to it after a good couple weeks of practice. We locked in on technical parts and picked up speed in our lineups. Now its time to perform in the heat of a race and get the results."
Following the Lubbers Cup, Drake travels to Omaha, Neb., to race Creighton on April 16.
