DES MOINES, Iowa – Drake University women's tennis senior
Maddie Johnson was named first-team CoSIDA Academic All-District women's at-large for the third consecutive year on Thursday, May 12.
Johnson is a psychology major and holds a perfect 4.0 grade point average. On the court, she led the Bulldogs with a 25-9 singles record and earned All-MVC select team honors. Johnson recorded her 102nd career singles win in the semifinals of the MVC Tournament, tying Cecily Dubusker for the most singles wins in program history.
To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution. Nominated athletes must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's games at the position listed on the nomination form (where applicable).
Johnson advances to the Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month. Award winners will be announced on June 9.
