DES MOINES, Iowa – The Drake University women's golf team opens its 2016 fall season under second-year head coach
Rachael Pruett on Sunday and Monday at the Redbird Invitational in Normal, Ill.
The 54-hole event hosted by Illinois State will begin with a shot gun start at 8:30 a.m. each day. The 14-team field includes: Ball State, Boston College, Bowling Green, Bradley, Butler, Drake, Evansville, Florida Gulf Coast, Illinois State, Loyola-Chicago, Northern Illinois, Ohio, Southern Illinois and Western Illinois.
Pruett will have three returning letter winners, juniors
Madison Glennie and
Brooke Miller and sophomore
Grace Dunn.
Glennie led the Bulldogs last season with a 77.8 average over 27 rounds, while Dunn ranked second on the team with a 78.5 average over 24 rounds. Dunn finished tied for 33rd in her collegiate debut last year at the Redbird Invitational for a team-best score of 235.
The Bulldogs welcome three freshmen,
Aimee Gerschke from South Milwaukee, Wis.,
Sigurlaug Jonsdottir from Hafnarfjordur, Iceland and
Riley Krohe from Geneva, Ill.
After the Redbird Invitational, Drake will play at the Cardinal Classic, hosted by Ball State on Sept. 19.
