Football Has 65 Student-Athletes Named To PFL Academic Honor Roll

SAINT LOUIS, Mo. – A total of 65 Drake University football student-athletes have been named to the Pioneer Football League Academic Honor Roll, the league announced.

Drake's 65 honorees were the third most in the PFL behind Dayton (79) and Butler (75). In all, the league saw more than 550 student-athletes recognized on its honor roll for the fourth consecutive year.

Following Dayton, Butler and Drake in total of honorees was Marist (52), Jacksonville (48), Davidson (47), Campbell (43), Morehead State (43), Stetson (43), Valparaiso, (41) and San Diego (40).

PFL athletic directors and coaches established the honor roll as a way to recognize the league's outstanding student-athletes. The academic honor roll consists of student-athletes who participated in football at member institutions during the fall semester and posted a 3.0 grade-point average or higher during the semester while enrolled full-time in accordance with NCAA rules.

Drake has had over 60 honorees each of the last five years with 66 last season, 68 in 2014, 66 in 2013, 62 in 2012 and 61 in 2011.
