OMAHA, Neb. – The Drake University softball team takes a short midweek road trip to face Creighton on Wednesday at 4 p.m. before returning to Missouri Valley Conference play at Southern Illinois this weekend. The Bulldogs and the Salukis are scheduled to play a doubleheader on Saturday starting at noon before a single game on Sunday at 11 a.m. All three games will be streamed on

Drake (16-12, 0-3 MVC) looks to rebound after being swept by Wichita State in its conference opener last weekend in Wichita, Kan. Freshman
Mandi Roemmich (West Des Moines, Iowa) leads Drake with a .356 batting average. Roemmich went 4-for-8 at the plate against the Shockers with two doubles, two runs batted in and two runs scored.
Creighton (8-16) is coming off a 2-3 performance last weekend at the Hawkeye Invitational. The Blue Jays recorded a five-inning 12-4 win over Valparaiso as well as an eight-inning 4-2 victory over Iowa.
Since Creighton left the MVC for the BIG EAST in 2013, the schools have played four times with the series split at 2-2.
SIU (14-14, 2-1 MVC) took two out of three games at home over Bradley to open MVC action. The Salukis narrowly missed a series sweep losing the finale to the Braves by a score of 6-5. Senior infielder Shaye Harre is batting a team-high .382 along with two home runs and 16 RBI. Drake swept SIU last season at Ron Buel Field.
Drake will host Indiana State April 1-2 in the team's first home series at Buel Field. The two teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday, April 1 beginning at noon before closing the series Sunday, April 2 at 11 a.m.
