DES MOINES, Iowa – The Drake University women's tennis dropped a 4-3 decision at home against Evansville Saturday afternoon.
Evansville took the doubles point for an early 1-0 lead.
Tess Herder and
Kenya Williams won the sole doubles match for Drake with a 6-3 victory at No. 1.
The Purple Aces extended their lead to 2-0 after Theodora Soldatou defeated
Alex Kozlowski at No. 5 singles.
Joely Lomas put the Bulldogs on the board with a 6-3, 7-6 victory at No. 3 singles.
After dropping her first set 6-1,
Mela Jaglarz came back to win the next two sets 6-4, 6-3 keeping the Bulldogs in it.
Summer Brills tied the match up 3-3 with a 7-5, 6-3 win at No. 1, earning her 12th victory of the season.
Drake had a chance to force a third set in the deciding No. 4 singles match with Williams, but Daria Pentsova managed to take the match 7-5, 6-3.
Drake will close out its regular season at home Sunday hosting Southern Illinois at 10 a.m. before heading to the Missouri Valley Conference April 28-30 in Normal, Ill.
