Coach Amy Rudolph Named One On Of The 19 Influential Women of Pennsylvania

The two-time Olympian and former American record holder joins elite company from her home commonwealth.

Amy Rudolph, an assistant cross country and track & field coach at Drake University, has been recognized as one of Pennsylvania's 19 Influential Women by pennlive.com. 

The website, operated by the Harrisburg Patriot-News, published the list in honor of International Women's Day on March 8. A native of Ridgeway, Pa., Rudolph competed at Kane Area High School. She was joined on the list by luminaries in Pennsylvania history such as Betsy Ross, Gertrude Stein, Ida Tarbell, Billie Holiday and Grace Kelly. One of the top distance runners in American history, Rudolph was a two-time Olympian and a finalist in the 5,000 meters at the 1996 Olympics, finishing 10th. That same year, she set the then American record in the 5,000 meters at 14:56.04.

Rudolph was also a seven-time member of U.S. World Championship teams and was a three-time USA National Champion. In 1996, she was the USA Champion in the 10,000 meters and followed that with a pair of USA Indoor national titles in the 3,000 meters in 1997 and 2002.

As a collegian at Providence College, Rudolph was a two-time NCAA Champion and a 10-time All-American. Following her competitive career, Rudolph served as an assistant track & field and cross country coach at Providence College, Bryant University and Auburn University.
