Olivia Rogers (Boulder, Colo.), a sophomore on the Drake University women's track and field team, has been named one of 10 student-athletes to receive the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Good Neighbor Award for the 2017-18 spring season.
In order to be eligible for the award, the student-athlete must be in good academic standing, must demonstrate good citizenship through good sportsmanship and significant community service, and must participate in a sport, during the season of recognition. The Valley recognizes 10 student-athletes three times annually (fall, winter, spring), for a total of 30 honorees. Institutions select their State Farm MVC Good Neighbor Award Honorees.
Rogers has volunteered with many organizations including, Children & Families of Iowa Domestic Violence Shelter, Lafayette Peer Empowerment Program Mentor, Joppa Houses and Meals from the Heartland. She has also volunteered during National Girls & Women in Sports Day.
Rogers holds a 3.65 cumulative GPA with a major in biochemistry, cell and molecular biology. She has also been named to the Dean's list.
During the 2018 indoor season, Rogers ran her personal best in the 3,000 meters at 10:40.11 and ran a leg of the Bulldogs' distance medley relay that finished eight at the MVC Indoor Championship. Her current outdoor bests are in the 800 meters with a time of 2:25.79, and the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:49.82 set in finishing second at the Jim Duncan Invitational.
