DES MOINES, Iowa – The Drake University rowing team has added
Ashley Haddock (Tigard, Ore.) and
Emily Peck (St. Charles, Ill.) for the 2020-21 season, head coach
Charlie DiSilvestro announced Thursday.
Haddock is a member of the Oregon Rowing Unlimited-PDX Rowing Club out of Portland, Ore., which is coached by Plamen Petrov and Nadia Petrova. She has rowed in several club boats that have claimed top-three finishes at multiple regattas the past two years.
"Ashley is our first west coast signee," said DiSilvestro. "Ashley impressed me with her level of commitment to academics and rowing as she wants to be successful at both. Ashley comes from a strong program and a great family. She and her family had a really great visit here and we're excited to add her to our program."
Peck is the fifth member of the St. Charles Rowing Club to join the Drake rowing program. Peck's coach is Chris Meldrum.
"We have a great pipeline with Chris and her St. Charles club that produces tremendous athletes," DiSilvestro said. "We love Emily's work ethic. She and her family had a great visit and we're excited to have her join our family."
