The Drake University track and field teams closed the Iowa State Classic with nine top-10 finishes over two days against strong competition at the Lied Recreation Athletic Center.
 
A limited squad of Bulldogs made the short trip to Ames, Iowa, in the team's next-to-last competition before the Missouri Valley Conference Championship at the end of the month.
 
Kundai Maguranyanga had the Bulldogs' top finish with a second-place showing in the 200 meters Friday evening in 21.56. Victor Peka followed in eighth place.
 
The 60 meters was also fruitful as Sophia Jackson clocked a personal best of 7.80 in the 60 meters to finish fourth while Aaron Chier was eighth in the men's 60 meters in 7.10.
 
Joshua Yeager also earned a personal best in the 3,000 meters with a finish of 8:11.95 to take ninth in the event.
 
Drake's throwers continued their development as freshman Katelyn Williams unleashed a big personal best in the weight throw of 55-7.5 (16.95m), one of the top throws in school history. Teammate Lexie Chapman was fifth in 54-7.5 (16.65m).
 
The Bulldogs return to action next weekend at the Nebraska Tune-Up before traveling to the MVC Championship.
