The Drake University women's golf team looks to continue its strong start to the spring season at the UTRGV Women's Invitational March 2-3. The Bulldogs tee off in the first round at 8:30 a.m. CST Monday morning with the second round beginning immediately after the conclusion of the first round.
The 54-hole event is hosted by the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley at the McAllen Country Club in McAllen, Texas. This year is the fifth time UTRGV has hosted the event and the first year that Drake has competed in the tournament.
The 13-team field includes Chicago State, Incarnate Word, Kansas City, Lamar, McLennan Community College, New Mexico State, Prairie View A&M, Stephen F. Austin, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Texas A&M-Kingsville and Texas Southern.
In their last event, the Bulldogs ran away with an 18-stroke victory in the Battle at Boulder Creek. Drake was led by sophomore Haeri Lee, who was named MVC Golfer of the Week after taking home medalist honors.
Following the conclusion of the event, Drake's next event is the Redrocks Invitational in Sedona, Ariz. on March 21-22.
