Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The Drake University softball team split its pair of games Saturday at the Doc Halverson UNI-Dome Tournament.
 
Drake (1-2) rallied for a 9-6 win over Butler in the morning before South Dakota State came back for a 7-6 victory in the afternoon.
 
In the victory over Butler, freshman Emma Richards earned her first career win in the circle.
 
Fellow freshman Addie Lightner doubled down the left field line in the first against the Jackrabbits scoring Emily Valtman and Delaney Taylor for the early 2-0 lead. SDSU scored two in the bottom of the frame and added another in the second to go up 3-2.
 
In the fourth, freshman Skylar Rigby's sacrifice fly tied it at 3-all and one inning later, freshman MaKayla Rice scored on a ball hit to centerfield by Johnson to give Drake the lead back at 4-3.
 
Lightner launched her first career home run, a solo shot, to left center in the sixth inning. Valtman added one more run in the seventh with a ground rule double that plated Johnson.
 
However, SDSU rallied with four runs in the seventh behind two hits and three Bulldogs' errors. Allie Timmons (0-1) took the loss after allowing seven runs (five earned) on seven hits with three strikeouts but nine walks.
 
Drake closes its final day at the tournament Sunday with two games. Up first for the Bulldogs is an in-state matchup with Iowa State at 11:15 a.m. followed by a game against Omaha.
