COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Drake University softball team finishes its non-conference tournament slate this weekend at the Mizzou Tournament.
 
Drake (3-10) starts the three-day tournament Friday against No. 17 Missouri (15-4) at 3 p.m. On Saturday, the Bulldogs play Kent State at 10 a.m. and rematch with the Tigers at 3 p.m. On Sunday, Drake meets Kent State again at 10 a.m. and Iowa State (RV) at 12:30 p.m.
 
The Bulldogs played five challenging games at the Woo Pig Classic in Fayetteville, Ark. last week. They held multiple run leads against the Razorbacks in the final innings of each game before ultimately dropping both. Drake routed Northwestern State, 12-2, in five innings behind a season-high 14 hits before Kansas held on for a 3-2 win in the team's final game in Arkansas.
 
In Arkansas, senior Macy Johnson blistered the softball with a .632 average (12-of-19) at the plate with one double, one triple, two RBI, seven runs, was a perfect 6-of-6 in stolen bases. She tallied a .650 on-base percentage and a .789 slugging percentage. Against Arkansas, she hit .714 (5-of-7) with two hits in game one and three in game two. Her best game was in the blowout over the Lady Demons as she collected her first four-hit game of the season, including tallying two hits in the fourth inning. She added two RBI and was 3-for-3 on the base paths. For the season, Johnson is batting a league-best .521 and swiped a league-high 10 stolen bases.  
 
Drake opens its Missouri Valley Conference schedule at undefeated SIU (14-0/RV) March 20-21.
