Drake University's
Chandler Haight set the school record in the women's shot put Friday evening at the South Dakota Tune-Up in Vermillion, S.D.
Haight's first-place throw of 49-10.5 (15.20m) shattered the previous record by more than a foot and was a 1-meter personal best for Haight. She was one of four throwers that competed Friday afternoon at the South Dakota Tune-Up.
In addition to the school record, Haight's toss moves her into sixth in the Missouri Valley Conference this season and 56
th in the NCAA West Region.
Ethan Marshall also had a personal best in the hammer throw with a toss of 159-7 (48.64m). This mark puts him fifth all time in program history. Marshall followed up his hammer throw with another best in the javelin at 158-2 (48.20m) which moved him to fifth in the MVC.
Joey Harkins also turned in a fourth-place finish in the hammer throw at 196-0 (59.74m) while
Katelyn Williams was seventh in the women's hammer throw at 180-8 (55.06m).
The Bulldog throwers, and the rest of the team, return to action next week for the MVC Championship.
