The Drake women's tennis team collected three wins in the singles portion of the Drake Invitational Saturday at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center.
Drake's
Millie Haagensen defeated Emma Gener 6-2, 6-2 in Flight 2 to advance to the semifinals later in the day. Haagensen then defeated Natalie Kmoskova of South Dakota 7-5, 3-6 to move on to the finals Sunday against Nebraska's Samantha Alicea.
In Flight 3, Drake's
Darinka Stepan beat Laura Are Vieyra of Augustana 4-6, 6-2 to advance to the semifinals. However, Stepan lost to Creighton's Valerie Negin 6-4, 6-4 in her semifinal match
In Flight 1, Drake's
Daria Walczak lost to Chloe Kuckelman of Nebraska 6-1, 6-1.
Yana Gaskell and
Kendall Hunt both lost in the quarterfinals of Flight 4 Saturday morning. Gaskell was defeated by Margarita Chouliara of Augustana 6-2, 6-2. Hunt fell to Augustana's Emily Granson 6-3, 6-1.
In doubles action, the Bulldogs have the duo of Haagensen and Stepan competing Sunday morning at 9 a.m. against Creighton's Emma Gener and Siri Kongara for their flight title.
Action at the final day of the Drake Invite resumes Sunday at 9 a.m.
