The Drake University women's tennis team was picked to finish second in the Missouri Valley Preseason Coaches Poll, as announced Wednesday Jan. 12. 

Illinois State was picked to finish first with 47 points and five first place votes. The Redbirds finished first last season after going 5-0. 

The Bulldogs received 44 total points and two first place votes. Drake finished fourth in the Valley last season. 

Drake had five people compete in the singles portion of the the MVC Championship last season. 

The Bulldogs start their season on Jan. 15 against Marquette.
