ST. LOUIS, Missouri -- Two members of the Drake University softball team earned Scholar Athlete Honors, as announced by the Missouri Valley Conference on Tuesday May 17.
Delaney Taylor earned first-team honors with a 3.99 GPA in Applied Health Sciences. She played in 42 games for the Bulldogs and started 39. She spent most of the season as the Bulldogs designated player. She finished in the top three in RBI's (23) and batting average (.306). She was a versatile player for the Bulldogs as she spent time in right field and as DP.
Nicole Timmons earned honorable-mention honors for the second year in a row after recording a 4.00 GPA in athletic training. She appeared in 27 games, while starting 23 for Drake and finished her season with a 6-11 record from the circle. She recorded 72 strikeouts and one shutout in her 103.1 innings pitched. She also ranked in the top ten in program history in career appearances (120), games started (98), wins (51), and strikeouts (548).
