ST. LOUIS, Missouri -- The Drake University women's tennis team had three earn Scholar Athlete Team honors, as announced by the Missouri Valley Conference.
Daria Walczak earned first team honors, while
Liza Petushkova and
Ines Stephani earned Second Team honors.
Walczak earned First Team honors for the second year in a row and holds a 3.90 GPA in Acturial Science. She posted a 3-2 record in both singles and doubles play this season. She topped opponents from Bradley, UNI, and Missouri State in singles play. She also earned All-Select team honors last season.
Petushkova records a 3.72 GPA in Finance/Accounting and Information Systems. Earlier this month, she earned All-Select team honors for the third straight season after finishing with a 4-1 record in singles play. Her only loss occurred against Illinois State.
Stephani earned Second Team honors after recording a 3.57 GPA in International Relations and Affairs. She also earned No. 2 Singles All-Conference honors earlier this month. She went 4-1 in singles competition this season, falling only to Valparaiso. She clinched the win for the Bulldogs against Illinois State when the deciding point came down to her singles match.
