FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Drake men's hammer thrower
Anthony Barmes broke his own school record in the NCAA Division I Track & Field West Preliminary at John McDonnell Field on Wednesday, May 25 with a hammer throw of 220-1 (67.09m). Barmes has advanced to the NCAA Division I Track & Field Championships June 8-11 in Eugene, Ore.
Barmes' second throw of the day is the best from a New Zealand competitor this year as he became the second Drake hammer thrower to qualify for the NCAA Championships.
Joey Harkins registered a hammer throw of 200-6 (61.13m).
Isaac Basten finished the first round of the men's 1500m run with a time of 3:43.05 to move on to Friday's (May 27) quarterfinal round scheduled to start at 5:15 p.m.
Katelyn Williams (women's hammer throw, 10 a.m.) and
Busiwa Asinga (women's 400m hurdles, 8:20 p.m.) will compete at the West Preliminary on Thursday, May 26.
