STILLWATER, Okla. -- Drake women's golfer Kristen Giles finished the opening round of the 2022 NCAA Division I Women's Golf Stillwater Regional on Monday, May 9 at Karsten Creek Golf Club.
 
Giles qualified by earning medalist honors at the Missouri Valley Championship on Tuesday, April 19 with a 54-hole score of 225. She became the second Bulldog women's golfer to win the MVC Championship individual title. 
 
This marks the first year that the medalist of a conference championship can get the automatic qualifier to the NCAA Women's Golf championship if not on the winning team. 
 
Giles recorded four pars and turned in a first round score of 90 as an individual in the Regional tournament.
 
The second round of the NCAA Stillwater Regional will begin for Giles at 8:55 a.m. on Tuesday (May 10).
