Iowa City, IA - The Bulldogs competed against The University of Iowa, Hawkeyes, in a scrimmage on Saturday, October 7. Drake traveled to Iowa City, IA for the matchup against the in-state opponent.
"We knew we were going up against a good team today; Iowa's a great team," Head Coach
Charlie DiSilvestro said. "We set our own goals and achieved the goals we wanted to hit to prepare us for the next race. We're really proud of them, they competed today. We appreciate Iowa for setting everything up and having us over."
The scrimmage against Iowa was the second race of the year for the Bulldogs. Drake competed in the Head of the Des Moines races on Sept. 23 where they were able to set school records.
"We were in the set lineups for our eights and the four, so that was a difference from The Head of the Des Moines," DiSilvestro said. "The lineups competed really well together. We have plenty of room for improvement and we'll start making those improvements next week. It's a long season and we're just getting started with it. We're happy with how we rowed today and they're excited to hit the water and start training again Monday."
Drake rowing will compete again in the Iowa Chase on Sunday, Oct. 22. The Bulldogs will head back to Iowa City, IA for their next race.
