SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Anthony Barmes saved his best throw for last at the NCAA Outdoor West Preliminary hosted at Hornet Stadium on Wednesday, May 24, to move on to the finals of the upcoming NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
Barmes' last toss of 68.21m (223-9) ranked 11th on Wednesday, with the top 12 finishes qualifying for the NCAA men's hammer throw final on June 7 in Austin, Texas.
Ethan Marshall (58.94m, 193-4) also competed in the first round of the men's hammer throw and did not qualify for the finals.
Isaac Basten will gear up for the men's 1500m quarterfinals on Friday (May 26) at 7:15 p.m. central time in Sacramento after a first round time of 3:41.21 on Wednesday evening.
Both Barmes and Basten qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Championships in 2022.
