CARBONDALE, Ill. – The Drake University track and field team wrapped up competition at the 2025 Missouri Valley Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Sunday. The Bulldogs celebrated a quartet of first place finishes on the championship's final day.
Adam Phillips was the first of the title winners, taking top honors in the men's hammer throw at 64.13m/210-5. He led a field that included
Sam Carpenter in third (59.69m/195-10) and
Ethan Elliott in eighth (55.00m/180-6). Elliott also earned a championship of his own with a shot put throw of 18.66m/61-2.75.
Cooper Cerese took fourth in the shot at 18.20m/59-8.5.
Chinemerem Iwuagwu highlighted the women's field events for Drake with a third-place finish in the hammer throw at 58.35m/191-5.
Brogan Giffin and
Emilie Meyer picked up a pair of individual titles. Giffin outran a loaded men's 1500 field and used a 53.82 bell lap to take the gold. Meyer entered the women's 800 finals with the quickest time in the lineup and improved upon her mark in the finals. Meyer won the race at 2:04.87.
Aidan Ramsey earned runner-up status in the men's 5000 at 14:27.33 while
Tyla Lumley made the women's podium at 17:05.92.
Aziz Jdai, yesterday's men's steeplechase runner-up, took eighth in the men's 5k while
Anastasia Kirillov added a sixth-place result on the women's side.
Elsewhere,
Dylan DeAngelo finished fourth in the men's 400 hurdles at 52.94 while
Hayden Cross was seventh in the men's 400m dash at 49.35.
Drake ran a foursome of relays on Sunday including the seventh place 4x100 and 4x400 teams on the women's side, the eighth-place men's 4x100, and ninth-place men's 4x400.
The Drake men were fourth in the team race with 85 total points while the women were ninth with 63 tallies. Indiana State completed the Sycamore sweep with both the men's and women's championships.
