Kozlowski Departs Drake Men's Tennis Program After 11 Successful Years

Davidson Kozlowski led Drake to eight NCAA Tournament appearances over his 11 seasons at the helm.

DES MOINES, Iowa -- Davidson Kozlowski, who led the Drake University men's tennis program to historic success over the past 11 years, has been named the head coach at Florida Gulf Coast University.

Kozlowski is a six-time conference coach of the year (Missouri Valley Conference and Summit League). His Bulldog teams have won seven conference tournament championships and five regular season conference titles.

"We are incredibly grateful for the 11 years Davidson gave to Drake," Drake University Director of Athletics Brian Hardin said. "Beyond all of the championships, Davidson developed relationships with our student-athletes and the community. We wish him all the best."

Drake had never won an NCAA Tournament match before Kozlowski arrived and led Drake to the round of 32 in 2013 and 2015. In 2013, the Bulldogs bested Texas Christian and they defeated Louisville in 2015.

In total, Kozlowski has guided Drake to eight NCAA Tournament appearances including back-to-back appearances the past two seasons in 2022 and 2023.

The Bulldogs have been nationally recognized during Kozlowski's tenure with their highest ranking in school history reaching No. 16 by ITA. Kozlowski always scheduled his teams against incredible competition. The highest-ranked win in Drake men's tennis history occurred against No. 14 Washington.

Hardin and senior associate athletics director Megan Franklin will conduct a national search for the next men's tennis head coach.
