IOWA CITY, Iowa. –The Drake women's golf team concluded play in its third tournament of the season at the Diane Thomason Invitational on Tuesday afternoon. The Bulldogs earned an eighth place finish out of the 15-team field after carding a total score of 926 (309-301-316) in the 54-hole event.
Amber Henson paced the Bulldogs on the leaderboard and recorded her first top-10 finish of the season tying for eighth. Henson fired rounds of 74-73-79 giving her a total score of 226 for the tournament. Henson's finish marks the first time this season a Bulldog has placed in the top-10.
Erika Holmberg just missed out on a top-20 result as she ended in a tie for 22nd at 232 (77-77-78). Meanwhile,
Rylee Heryford and
Julie Huggins both tied in 44th posting final scores 238. Heryford shot rounds of 85-75-78 and Huggins carded rounds of 81-76-81, respectively.
Rounding out the Drake lineup was
Alexis Reyes who finished her tournament with a 247 (77-84-86).
Kate Connolly competed as an individual for the Bulldogs and tallied a 254 (83-78-93)
Host team Iowa claimed the team title at 906 (288-299-319) and Montana State's Becca Tschetter took home individual medalist honors at 219 (73-73-73).
Drake will have a couple weeks off before their final event off the fall season, the Clash at Boulder Creek taking place in Boulder City, Nev., Oct. 20-22.
