DES MOINES, IOWA – Drake softball and head coach
Lindsay Diehl announced the signings of six student-athletes as part of National Signing Day.
The Bulldogs have signed Brooklynn Cardenas, Pearson Hall, Ava Husak, Kiley Kindelspire, Leanna Watts, and Malea Yoxsimer.
BROOKLYNN CARDENAS | RHP | FIRESTONE, CO. l FOSSIL RIDGE HS
Coming from Colorado, Cardenas is a four-time varsity letter winner at Fossil Ridge High School. She helped lead her team to a City Championship this past season as a First Team All-Conference selection and an All-State Honorable Mention. Over 65.2 innings of work, Cardenas recorded 116 strikeouts.
PEARSON HALL l INF l WEST LIBERTY, IOWA l WEST LIBERTY HS
A two-time team captain and a four-time letterwinner, Hall comes to Des Moines after posting hitting clips of .546, .553, and .444 her freshman through junior seasons. She has been an All-District, All-Conference, and All-State selection for every season in her high school career.
AVA HUSAK l RHP/UTL l CAMBRIDGE, IOWA l NORTH POLK HS
A local product hailing from Cambridge, Iowa, Husak was a First Team All-State and First Team All-Conference selection in her junior campaign. At the plate, she hit at a clip of .500 with 13 home runs, 16 doubles, and 49 RBI. From the pitching circle Husak racked up 29 wins en route to a fourth-place finish in the state tournament with 363 strikeouts and an ERA of 1.13.
KILEY KINDELSPIRE l UTL l INDIANOLA, IOWA l INDIANOLA HS
A multi-sport athlete between softball and track, Kindelspire has been a varsity letterwinner throughout her high school career. The Indianola native has yet to post a season batting average under .445 and hit 13 home runs with 45 RBI as a sophomore. Kiley has also been Drake Relays and State track qualifier every year.
LEANNA WATTS l OF l CLIVE, IOWA l WAUKEE NORTHWEST HS
Another local product, Watts brings her talents to Des Moines as 2022 State Tournament champion. She will join her sister, Natalee, who is entering her first season at Drake.
MALEA YOXSIMER l C/UTL l PARKER, CO. l LUTHERAN HS
The second student-athlete for the Bulldogs from Colorado, Yoxsimer is a four-time letterwinner and was most recently a First-Team All-Conference and First Team All-State selection. She has helped guide her team to three consecutive state championships and has hit at a clip of .400 or greater in each season of her high school career.
