ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Drake football's commitment to excellence on and off the field was rewarded on Thursday with nine individuals earning Academic All-PFL honors, the conference announced this afternoon.
 
The Bulldogs placed four players on the first team and four more on the second. Finn Claypool and Shane Dunning earned their second straight first team nods while Tyler Radocha improved upon last year's reward with a first team honor this season.
 
St. Thomas' Alec Rasmussen was named the Pioneer Football League's Scholar-Athlete of the Year. He and Sam Hafner of Valpo have now earned three Academic All-PFL honors while Jaxsen Spears made his fourth career Academic All-PFL squad.
 
Pioneer Football League athletic directors established the Academic All-PFL lists in 1993 to recognize the league's outstanding student-athletes. To be eligible for Academic All-PFL consideration, a student athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, reach his second season academically, and played at least one full season at his current institution.
