AMES, Iowa — The Drake track and field program took the short drive north to Ames for the ISU Alumni Open yesterday.
The Bulldog throwers highlighted the afternoon for Drake led by
Anthony Barmes' (70.97m) first-place finish in the hammer throw.
Christopher Norris (56.44m) also earned first for his performance in the javelin. Centaine Noom-Ducksworth (60.47m) took the gold and was followed by
Chinemerem Iwuagwu's (57.41m) silver in the women's hammer.
Lara Smits put together a solid outing, taking fourth in the hammer (44.51m), first in the the women's shot put (14.65m), and was second in discus (45.24).
Aziz Jdai (8:50.14) took first in the 3000m steeplechase.
Brogan Giffin (3:43.09) contributed to the team's performance with a third-place result in the 1500m.
Emmaline Nau (1:10.21) earned gold in the 400m hurdles while
Emilie Meyer (2:07.85) joined the winners circle with her first-place finish in the 800m. Other top finishers include
Briandrias Rhodes' third-place effort in the women's 100m dash, and the duo of
Amanda Radava and
Anastasia Kirillov the second- and third-place finishers in the women's 1500.
The Bulldogs will travel to Terre Haute, Ind. for the MVC Outdoor Championships from May 10-12, in Terre Haute, Ind.
