EUGENE, Ore. – Drake sophomore
Ethan Elliott represented the Bulldogs last night as their only NCAA Championships qualifier. Elliott threw his way into the top 12, solidifying himself as a Second Team All-American.
Elliott, a Kentucky native, began his day with a heave well below his best at 15.67m/51.5. He bettered that mark by over 10 feet on his next try, hitting 18.74m/61-5.75. Elliott's third throw was disallowed via scratch, but that second distance was enough to launch him into the top 12.
Elliott becomes the 29th Bulldog to earn All-American status in the program's history. He is the first Drake All-American since Anthony Barmes (hammer) and Isaac Basten (1500m) also landed on the Second Team. Elliott is the first shot putter to meet All-American marks while wearing a Drake uniform.
