Track Team Wins Two Events In Indoor Opener At Iowa State

AMES, IOWA -- The Drake men's and women's track and field teams came away with impressive performances, capturing two individual titles, in its first indoor meet of the season Friday at the Iowa State Holiday Preview.

Drake freshman Johanna Sprang (New Brighton, Minn.) won the women's pole vault, soaring 10 feet 6 inches. Drake junior Andy Bryant (St. Louis, Mo.) captured the men's pole vault at 12-7.50.

Freshman Tyse Samani (Kansas City, Mo.) was second in the women's high jump at 5-4.25. Freshman Beth Hamling (Council Bluffs, Iowa) was third in the women's 300-meter dash in 42.60 seconds, while freshman Caitlin Seick (Glen Ellyn, Ill. ) was third in the mile in 5:35.62

The Drake men were third in the 4x300-meter relay in 6-4. Senior Jaron VanMaanen (Sully) was fourth in the high jump at 6-4.
