DES MOINES, IOWA -- Rachel Oberheide, a standout prep golfer from Park Ridge, Ill., has signed a national letter of intent at Drake University, indicating she will join the Bulldogs.

Oberheide, who attends Maine South High School, was one of the top prep golfers in Illinois, finishing 15th in the 2009 Illinois Class AA state golf meet in Carbondale, Ill., Oct. 21.

A recipient of the Drake Presidential Scholarship, Oberheide tied for eighth in the 2009 Illinois Junior Girls Championship. She finished fourth in the Mid-American Junior Golf Tour University of Illinois Invitational at Stone Creek Golf Club this past summer.

"Rachel brings a lot of athleticism to our program," said Drake golf coach Scott Bohlender. "She displays a love for the game as she plays in a lot of golf tournaments even while playing on a traveling soccer team."
