CARBONDALE, ILL. - Drake collected only two hits as No. 19
Southern Illinois defeated the Bulldogs 3-0 in the third game of the MVC series.
The Salukis scored three runs on two hits and one error in
the third.
Freshman
Torey Craddock (Tucson, Ariz./Salpointe Catholic) started the second inning with
a single to left center and was advanced to second on a sacrifice by sophomore Molly McClelland (West Des Moines, Iowa/Valley). Sophomore Jenna DeLong (Dalton Gardens, Idaho/Coeur d'Alene) and sophomore Erin Mollohan (Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew)
each flew out, leaving Craddock on base.
Drake's second hit of the game was a single to left field by
junior Kelsey Kahler (North Liberty,
Iowa/Clear Creek-Amana). Kahler advanced to third off a sacrifice by junior Mandy Osborn/Blair, Neb. (Blair) and a
ground out to second by junior Elena Leon (West Des Moines, Iowa/Valley). Junior Bridget Shields (Iowa City, Iowa/West) ended the inning with a ground
out to third.
Sophomore Brynne Dordel (Chanhassen, Minn./Chaska) and DeLong each threw three innings apiece
with Dordel collecting the loss.
The Bulldogs (13-10, 1-2 MVC) travel to Eastern Illinois for
a 1 p.m. match-up, Tuesday (March 17).
